The estimate is built on a sample of 29 real UK installs from June 2026 and refreshed monthly. It covers the charger unit, standard wall mounting, labour for a typical cable run from your consumer unit, electrical certification and DNO notification, and the £500 grant deduction where you qualify. A final price is confirmed at a free survey.
For a standard 7kW install the electrical labour and parts are typically £400–£800 on top of the charger unit, which is why our live UK average lands near £1,073. The installer must be OZEV-approved to claim the grant and notify your DNO — the calculator assumes exactly that standard of work.
Almost certainly. A 7kW charger runs on a standard single-phase UK supply and suits the vast majority of homes — it's the default option in the calculator. You only need 22kW if you have a three-phase supply, which most homes don't.
Our live UK average for a 22kW three-phase install is £1,150, ranging £999–£1,300. It costs more than a 7kW install because it needs a three-phase supply upgrade, which the calculator flags as confirmed at survey rather than included by default.

Major consumer-unit replacement beyond a standard upgrade, trenching or groundwork for very long outdoor runs, scaffolding or non-standard access, and 3-phase supply upgrades for 22kW. These are confirmed at survey.
